I attended a live event. Yes…I actually left the house. It was in Brooklyn, so I didn’t have to go far.
I’m excited to have seen a familiar friend and met some new ones, with whom I expect to work in the near future.
Part of my event prep routine (read: process) is to research the event. My attendance is based on my perceived value and ROI (return on investment), which may not always be immediate or monetary. This is a long game.
Once the decision is made, the real magic begins. As old-school as I am, I have ditched the formal paper business card for apps that serve the same purpose.
As a techie, I like to be aware of options, so I signed up for several apps. BTW, they are free, as is LinkedIn’s QR code, so don’t sleep!
One part of my process was to make sure I had them handy on my phone, whether the app or a screenshot on my home page. I was more focused on my ticket than the apps, so I dropped the ball on that one.
